Opinion/Editorial: Webb is good pick for district
October 30, 2020 | The Daily Progress
Democrat Dr. Cameron Webb is seeking to replace Denver Riggleman of Nelson County, who was defeated in the Republicans’ drive-through convention earlier this year by Bob Good of Campbell County.
Mr. Good trends almost as far right as his party can go — on women’s rights, LGBQT rights, immigration and other issues. He is running a campaign that involves limited interaction with voters at large, on the theory that voters from the right are sufficiently numerous and motivated to carry him through to election.

Commentary: A letter from Dr. Cameron Webb

My name is Cameron Webb and I am running to represent Virginia’s Fifth Congressional District. It has been an honor to spend the last year on the campaign trail and I wanted to take this final opportunity to speak with you directly and share who I am and what I stand for.
I am a kid from Spotsylvania County who understands this district and is proud to call it home. I am a doctor who wants to help keep our communities safe and healthy. I am a consensus-builder who was able to get things done while working in both the Obama and Trump White Houses. I am running for Congress because I believe everyone deserves opportunities for health and success, and I will fight to make that a reality.

Will reliably Republican 5th District flip in a turbid political year?
October 24, 2020 | The Daily Progress
After just one term in office, Republican Rep. Tom Garrett abruptly announced in 2018 his struggle with alcoholism and that he wouldn’t run for reelection. Then, in a hastily assembled nomination contest, Denver Riggleman won the Republican nod by one vote. After a competitive race — which featured the Democratic opponent accusing Riggleman of being a fan of Bigfoot erotica — Riggleman won the seat. A few months into his term, Riggleman officiated at a same-sex marriage, offending social conservatives, and lost the party nomination a year later to self-described “bright red biblical conservative” Bob Good.

Doctors Cameron and Leigh-Ann Webb Have a New Vision for Virginia — Starting in the Fifth Congressional District
October 15, 2020 | Shondaland
When Cameron Webb won his June primary in the race for Virginia's fifth congressional district, he won big, taking two-thirds of the vote in a four-way race. Webb, 37, is great on paper: he's a physician, the Director of Health Policy and Equity at UVA’s School of Medicine, and a professor with serious policy chops. He's great in real life, too: an engaged dad, husband, and community servant who celebrates his wife's many accomplishments.
Speaking of his wife, Leigh-Ann Webb is no less accomplished as an entrepreneur, author, and an emergency room physician. Despite Cameron’s mounting campaign for Congress, both Webbs have been doing sustained outreach work ever since the beginning of the Covid-19 crisis. Amid Pandemic, Scientists Lean on Credentials in Political Races
October 9, 2020 | The Scientist
Although Cameron Webb decided to run for political office long before the pandemic started, his campaign appears to be made for times like these. The 37-year-old physician announced his bid to represent Virginia’s 5th congressional district last August, and he says the main thing on his mind then was repairing the country’s broken healthcare system. While seeing patients with diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease as an internist at the University of Virginia’s Department of Medicine, he witnessed the structural problems that contributed to his patients’ conditions, factors such as food insecurity, income inequality, and poor access to healthcare.

Get to Know Them: Good, Webb discuss Rural Affairs (continued)
October 4, 2020 | Rappahannock News
Webb: Clean and renewable energy is absolutely key to creating the jobs of the future. On the front end, we have to make sure we’re training the workforce to make our district attractive for clean and renewable energy producers to come to the Fifth. And that’s a conversation I’ve had with five out of the six community college presidents here in the Fifth congressional district. We can design our workforce training and educational opportunities to make sure we have the workforce necessary to be a true hub in this space. To do so, we will lean on existing infrastructure, understanding where we can build upon it and what further support we need to grow in the renewable energy industry.
